About Us
Plockton High School, which stands in the spectacular landscape of the North-West Highlands, is the six-year, comprehensive school which serves the extensive catchment area of 360 sq miles from the Applecross peninsula in the north to Arnisdale in the south and which has recently been extended to include Kyleakin, in south Skye.
We now have eight associated primary schools: Plockton, Kyle, Kyleakin, Auchtertyre, Loch Duich, Glenelg, Lochcarron and Applecross. Pupils from Applecross and Arnisdale are accommodated and cared for in the Residence (Mon–Fri) which also provides a home for students who attend the prestigious National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music, based at Plockton High School since 2000.
We are conscious of our geographical place in the Gàidhealtachd (highlands), and of the indigenous Gaelic culture which we promote positively and our intake includes Gaelic Medium (GM) pupils from Plockton and Lochcarron Primaries. We aim to promote this dimension and to support and extend our pupils’ commitment to Gaelic.
